1. Open Davinci Resolve
2. Click the Davinci Resolve Menu
3. Click Preferences
4. In System Settings click "Generate" on the left side of the settings screen
5. Set External Script Using to "Local"
6. Save Changes

NOTE: This is an experimental connection type. This option should work for any version of Resolve Studio.

Start SparkFX Connect

1. Start SparkFX
2. In Resolve start the SparkFX connect script
   1. Workspace -> Scripts -> SparkFX -> Connect-SparkFX
3. This will open a popup window that communicates with SparkFX

Make sure you have the latest version of SparkFX.

Start SparkFX & Setup Test

1. Start SparkFX
2. In Resolve start the SparkFX connect script
   1. Workspace -> Scripts -> SparkFX -> SparkFX Connect
3. In the SparkFX connect popup, click the "About" tab and then click the version number button
4. This will log connections attempts for the next 60 seconds.

Reproduce the Connection Error

1. Switch to the SparkFX window
2. Try a feature, Spell Check, Text Edit, Timeline Info...
3. Wait for the error message to appear

Resolve Console Debug Information (send to us)

1. In Resolve, click the workspace menu and then console
2. Send us the text output from the console

SparkFX Debug Information (send to us)

1. In SparkFX, click the gear icon
2. Click the "debug" under the save button
3. Send us the text from the debug log

NOTE: This is an experimental connection type.  To connect with SparkFX you need to run the SparkFX connect script inside of Resolve.  You can assign a shortcut key to this script which allows SparkFX to send a keystroke to Resolve to run the script.

Connect-SparkFX Script
SparkFX runs this script to connect with Resolve.  The Resolve window will be activated and brought to the front each time the script is run.  

Ensure scripts are loaded (once with each Resolve restart)

1. Each time you restart Resolve.
2. Click Workspace->Scripts->SparkFX->Open

Setup Resolve with the SparkFX shortcut key

1. Open Davinci Resolve
2. Click the Davinci Resolve Menu->Keyboard Customization
3. in the search box on the right search for "sparkfx"
4. Open Scripts->SparkFX sections
5. On the Connext-SparkFX line click the shortcut key assignment box to the right of the text.. A red box will appear
6. On your keyboard hit the "F5" to assign the shortcut key
   1. If F5 is already assigned to another function you will need to change it.
7. Save Changes
